Alive

I've been a very bad blogger. Almost a month without a post. It seems the longer you go without posting, the harder it is because there is so much to talk about. Where do I start? This will probably be just one big crappy disorganized update (where I will reward you for reading it with pictures).

First off - postpartum. I'm going to get gross on you right away. I have two lingering effects of pregnancy (o.k., well, not counting the extra 25lbs). The first is that my joints kill me. When I wake up in the morning I feel like I am an 90yr old arthritic woman. Everything hurts, especially my feet. I get back aches now and I've never had a back ache in my life. The second is gross - it's a fissure...in my ass. Lovely. If you don't know what that is, I'll save you the google. It's a cut...that re-opens everytime I take a crap. Because it hasn't healed yet, I have to go for a scope. Yippee, the fun never stops.

On to more pleasant things. Olivia. She is an angel. I am firmly convinced that she is the most delicious baby in the entire world. The witching hour is gone! Oh how lovely life can be. The first three months are hard but something magically happens after that and what used to be a baby, starts to become a little person. Right now she is amazed by her body. She sticks her tongue out, touches her feet, sucks her lower lip, basically plays with herself nonstop. A little like her mom I guess.

Breast feeding is going really well. I've been really lucky in this department. She's had nothing but breast milk so far and I haven't had any pain or problems. I'm probably going to feed her until she's close to a year if all continues to go well. She is growing kinda slow (still only 11lb14oz as of today) but she's hitting all her milestones so we are just assuming she is a small baby. The 0-3 clothes still fit which is a blessing and a curse - I've got a shit load of summer clothes that aren't going to fit her until winter. Thank god for consignment stores.

Infertility. It's something I try pretty hard not to think about, although that's easier said then done. I would love to have another baby and rarely a day goes by that I don't think about the frosties. I still feel that pang when I see a pregnant woman, although it's much easier to be happy for her then it used to be. I want to do a whole big post about secondary infertility but it's hard to get those feelings down in a way that makes sense.

We are heading off to the cottage so I can't check up on everybody. Hopefully some of you will have some good news for me to read when I get back.

Since I'm a guy, I have to say: "hee hee, I see your boobie". Nice. Show a bit more and I'll stop by more often.

I'm glad to read things are going well. Those first three months are a beee-otch, aren't they? And then poof - magic, an awesome little person. It's payback. Enjoy.

Sorry about the, uh, fissure. If its the craps that keep it open, then deal with the craps. Metamucil. FiberCon. SOMEthing. Let that bad boy heal.

I wonder if those fissures are PG related, because I am JUST getting over one. I had it for 6 weeks and I think it was more painful that giving birth! I had the exam and I screamed so loud when the dr. did it that my husband heard me in the waiting room. I am so sorry you have to go through it too. Hopefully it will heal quickly for you (because mine took forever!!).

    BTW, Olivia is BEAUTIFUL!

OMG. Did Smarshy just GIVE YOU ASSVICE about your fissure??? LOL! :)

Olivia's gorgeous... and so do you. I agree with the others - you look great.

Yes I DID, Serenity. I only give assvice about topics that actually include someone's ass.

And your 3rd grade grammar teacher called, she wants to meet with you regarding your use of the phrase "Olivia's gorgeous... and so do you. "

Dude. I have to read the whole post, but regarding the whole foot issue. Get thee to a doctor pronto and see if it could be plantar faciiutus. I went to my OB and I was telling her of some pains and I also mentioned that exact foot pain. I'm now in PT for it, but she said that it's common postpartum and treatable, but not to let it go.

My heels KILL whenever I stand up. My knees are killing me too. Part of it is probably the extra weight, because I wondered if that extra 25 I'm carrying is the issue. I'm the heaviest I've ever been, and I'm not even that heavy, but yeah, anyway. Ask about that. I'm not trying to be all assvice, but it's easily treatable unless you let it go.

LOL about Smarshy and Serenity's comments.

I love the photos. You and baby are just gorgeous. You are glowing!

Beautiful pictures! What a babe! We treat a lot of fissures and I understand they are miserable but it will get better!

I have had plantar fasciitis for awhile and it is horrible now that I am pregnant. I hope it doesn't get even worse postpartum.

Olivia is getting more adorable each time you post a picture. How fun it must be for you to see her get more beautiful right before your eyes. Regarding the fissure, having done nursing in maternity areas I've found that using a stool softener helps ALOT! Docusate sodium is a stool softener you can pick up from your pharmacy. Just ask for help if you can't find it. Will make those BMs a lot easier to pass and may prevent the fissure from breaking open every time. May help with the healing. I'd say drink lots of water as it also helps the stool to be softer. Hope that helps.

Olivia is such a doll! You are so lucky!
Good for you on the breastfeeding. I hear of so many who have trouble. I was very lucky and never had any trouble and actually breastfed until my son was 2 years old (YIKES!!)!
As for the fissure~been there and done that and totally feel for you!

Hello...about the ASS. I just had something VERY similar. Don't know if what I had was what you had (read my recent post from a week ago) but it was AWFUL as I'm pregnant and having pain that bad and only 2 tylenol every 4 hours SUCKS! Are you doing sitz baths? That helps, or at least it helped me to bring it to the surface...ugh....its just NO fun and noone will understand just HOW BAD it is unless it happens to them.
