Wednesday, October 24, 2007 Insult to Injury Guess what came for me in the mail? A Tax Audit. Why, you may ask? Because I claimed $9,857.22 in medical expenses for 2006. I guess that is my thank you for paying out of pocket for my IVF? You know, because I don't have enough to do with a 6 month old. I've got all the time in the world to dig out reciepts. Just as an FYI, in Canada, IVF is not covered AT ALL...but you can claim the expenses on your tax return and get credit for about 16% of the cost. posted by Just another Jenny @ 12:51 PM   9 Comments: At 3:04 PM,  seattlegal said… That sucks! Canada Customs and Revenue Service automatically flags certain things after they exceed a certain amount. Like when I claimed $7000 in tuition costs. I don't think they liked the $3000 tax return I got that year. At any rate: send the stuff in, they'll file it away and it'll disappear.
